The US protectorate of Puerto Rico is in a perilous state after Hurricane Maria. The Wall Street Journal, yesterday:

At least 10 people have died as a result of the hurricane, the second major storm to wallop the US territory within the past two weeks ... Throughout the island, Puerto Ricans struggled to cope with the absence of power that has plunged the island into almost total darkness ... only about 25 per cent of the island’s telecommunications system was working ...

Luckily, the famously empathetic and competent Donald Trump is running things. The US President on Twitter, yesterday:

Texas & Florida are doing great but Puerto Rico, which was already suffering from broken infrastructure & massive debt, is in deep trouble ...

We bet the Puerto Ricans really appreciate that, Donald. The Wall Street Journal, continued:

Puerto Rico’s government doesn’t yet have a cost estimate for the reconstruction, but the governor said it would surely be “north of $7 billion to $8 billion” …

Trump continues his running commentary on Twitter, yesterday:

Much of the Island was destroyed, with billions of dollars owed to Wall Street and the banks which, sadly, must be dealt with.

If only someone hadn’t blocked a bailout for a struggling Puerto Rico. Fox Business News online, April 27:

US President Donald Trump said on Thursday that he is opposed to a push to help Puerto Rico resolve its $70 billion debt load as the US territory faces looming austerity measures amid a deep economic crisis.

Trump on Twitter, April 27:

Democrats are trying to bail out insurance companies from disastrous #ObamaCare, and Puerto Rico with your tax dollars. Sad!

These are American citizens he’s talking about. The New York Times, Monday:
Under Section 302 of the Immigration and Nationality Act, people born in Puerto Rico have the same birthright American citizenship as people born in the 50 states.

Maybe Trump should have a read of his own inauguration speech. The President in Washington, DC, January 20:

We are one nation — and their pain is our pain ... The oath of office I take today is an oath of allegiance to all Americans.

But he is still more concerned about the footy. On Twitter, yesterday:

(White House Chief of Staff) General John Kelly totally agrees w/ my stance on NFL players and the fact that they should not be disrespecting our FLAG or GREAT COUNTRY!

He’s really winning over the NFL players with his strong stance. ABC (US) News online, yesterday:

On Sunday, NFL players, teams and owners across the league participated in a peaceful protest by kneeling, locking arms or skipping the playing of the national anthem altogether in response to President Donald Trump’s criticism of players who “disrespect” the US.

We’re more worried he’s after Cut & Paste’s job to be honest ... The President on Twitter, yesterday:

A few of the many clips of John McCain talking about Repealing & Replacing O’Care. My oh my has he changed — complete turn from years of talk!

This presidency is going great guns. Trump on Twitter, all the time:

Sad!
