Unfortunately for The New York Times, ‘victim’ has no recollection of harassment
Grave allegations of sexual misconduct against a US Supreme Court justice. Cameron Stewart, The Australian, Monday:
Donald Trump has come out swinging in defence of conservative Supreme Court judge Brett Kavanaugh, saying the Justice Department should “come to his rescue” in the face of fresh attacks … The President was responding to a new book by two New York Times reporters that claims to have uncovered more evidence of sexual harassment involving Mr Kavanaugh when he was a student. The new book, The Education of Brett M. Kavanaugh: An Investigation, examines claims by Deborah Ramirez, a Yale classmate of Mr Kavanaugh’s, who alleged during his confirmation process that he had exposed himself to her at a party while they were in college.
A weak story, Mollie Hemingway, The Federalist website, Monday:
The New York Times has finally admitted that the premise of its much-hyped story about an alleged incident with US Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh was false, as the alleged victim says she has no recollection of the incident in question. The admission undermines what was an already weak story of dubious credibility … Last year, The New York Times called “dozens” of people attempting to corroborate the story and came up with nothing.
Miranda Devine, New York Post, Monday:
The Brett Kavanaugh lynch mob can’t let it go. Now Democrats want to impeach the conservative Supreme Court justice over a new sexual misconduct allegation in The New York Times so shady, even the newspaper doesn’t seem to believe in it.

Democratic presidential hopeful Elizabeth Warren tweets, Sunday:
Last year the Kavanaugh nomination was rammed through the Senate without a thorough examination of the allegations against him. Confirmation is not exoneration, and these newest revelations are disturbing. Like the man who appointed him, Kavanaugh should be impeached.
Another Democratic candidate, Kamala Harris, tweets, Sunday:
I sat through those hearings. Brett Kavanaugh lied to the US Senate and most importantly to the American people. He was put on the (Supreme) Court through a sham process and his place on the court is an insult to the pursuit of truth and justice. He must be impeached.
Donald Trump ramps up his tweeting, Monday:
The New York Times walks back report on Kavanaugh assault claim. @foxandfriends, The one who is actually being assaulted is Justice Kavanaugh — assaulted by lies and Fake News! This is all about the LameStream Media working with their partner, the Dems.
Trump was just warming up:
Just out: “Kavanaugh accuser doesn’t recall incident.” @foxandfriends DO YOU BELIEVE WHAT THESE HORRIBLE PEOPLE WILL DO OR SAY. They are looking to destroy, and influence his opinions — but played the game badly. They should be sued!
The New York Times is at its lowest point in its long and storied history. Not only is it losing a lot of money, but it is a journalistic disaster, being laughed at even in the most liberal of enclaves. It has become a very sad joke all all over the World. Witch Hunt hurt them...

Trump starts to enjoy himself:
I call for the resignation of everybody at The New York Times involved in the Kavanaugh SMEAR story, and while you’re at it, the Russian Witch Hunt Hoax, which is just as phony! They’ve taken the Old Grey Lady and broken her down, destroyed her virtue and ruined her reputation … She can never recover, and will never return to Greatness, under current management: The Times is DEAD.
