Trading Day: ASX closed higher after hitting record high for second day in a row

Stocks finish up 0.5 per cent after hitting record high during the trading session for a second day running. BlueScope rallied 6.7 per cent after forecasting annual underlying earnings of $1.72bn. OZ Minerals also rose sharply.

Welcome to the Trading Day blog for Tuesday, July 27. Australian stocks have closed up 0.5 per cent after soaring to record high earlier in the trading session. The market took the lead from Wall Street, which ticked up, building on last week’s highs ahead of big tech earnings results.

European stocks were mixed after Asian stocks tumbled, while bitcoin soared.
