ASX 200 jumps 1.3pc; Newcrest soars on Newmont bid, Imugene dives

Welcome to the Trading Day blog for Tuesday, April 11. The Australian sharemarket records its biggest one-day gain in three months on the back of strong gains by miners and banks.

The ASX 200 rose 1.3 per cent to 7309.90, with all sectors bar tech in the green. It was the bourse's second biggest jump on 2023.

The dollar was buying around US66.80c at the close.
