Welcome to the Trading Day blog for Tuesday, January 17. The Australian sharemarket ended flat as investor consolidated gains ahead of a big week for global markets.
The S&P/ASX 200 fell 1.90 points to 7386.30 as six of the 11 index sectors rose.
Wall Street was closed on Monday for the Martin Luther King Jr holiday, but is set to fall this evening with futures tied to the S&P 500, Nasdaq and Dow Jones all in the red.
The dollar was buying US69.7cc at the close.
