ASX 200 closes down 0.2% after day of swings

ASX closes down 0.2 per cent at at 7399.4 after mixed leads from Wall Street. Oil Search merger gets nod from ISS and Prime pitches Seven deal at AGM.

Welcome to the Trading Day blog for Wednesday, November 24. ASX retreats slightly at close. 

The S&P/ASX 200 index closed down 0.2% at 7399.4 after swings.

Wall Street ended Tuesday mixed following a later rally. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was 0.6 per cent higher, the S&P 500 rose 0.2 per cent and the tech-heavy Nasdaq fell 0.5 per cent.

Iron ore gained 5 per cent to $US99.45 a tonne. The US Nymex crude price gained 2.3 per cent to $US78.5 a barrel.
