Welcome to the Trading Day blog for Wednesday, July 23. The ASX 200 index is hitting three-day highs, up 0.8 per cent higher at 8745.10 points at 3.10pm AEST, led by mining and energy gains. Utilities are weakest.
On Wall Street, the S&P 500 rose 0.1 per cent to another record high, the Nasdaq Composite retreated 0.4 per cent, weighed down by chip makers such as Nvidia, and Dow closed 0.4 per cent stronger.
Cryptocurrency giant bitcoin is around $US118,900.
The Aussie dollar is trading around US65.66c.
