Welcome to the Trading Day blog for Wednesday, February 26. The ASX 200 index is down 0.2 per cent to 8232.60 points at 12.20pm AEDT. The heavyweight miners and banks are in the red.

Wall Street closed mixed with the S&P 500 and tech-heavy Nasdaq indexes marking a fourth consecutive session of declines, down 0.5 per cent and 1 .4 per cent, respectively. The Dow Jones index  rose 0.4 per cent.

Cryptocurrency giant bitcoin is below $US89,000.

The Aussie dollar is trading around US63.37c.
