That's all from the Trading Day blog for Thursday, March 27. The ASX 200 index closed down 0.4 per cent at 7969 points, ending a five-day winning streak as regional markets dived as the US slapped a 25 per cent tariff on autos.
On Wall Street, the S&P 500 shed 1 per cent as the Dow Jones slipped 0.3 per cent and the technology-focused Nasdaq slumped 2 per cent.
Cryptocurrency giant bitcoin is above $U87,000.
The Aussie dollar is trading around US63.10c.
