Welcome to the Trading Day blog for Monday, April 22. The ASX 200 closed 1.1 per cent higher at 7,649.2 points in a relief rally after no further escalation in Middle East tensions over the weekend. Wall Street closed mixed on Friday.

The Aussie dollar is near US64.34c.
