Elle Macpherson sells Coral Gables home for more than twice what she paid
The Australian supermodel scored $27m for the six-bedroom house, which she bought for $11.8m in 2018.
Australian supermodel Elle Macpherson has sold her Coral Gables, Florida, estate for more than twice what she paid for it in 2018.
Macpherson sold the home for $US18.5m ($A27m) after buying it for $US8.1m ($A11.8m) in 2018, according to the local multiple listing service. With her sons now grown, she put it on the market for $US29m in April 2022, and recently reduced the price to $US22m.
The buyer’s identity couldn’t be determined.
In a gated community called Journey’s End Estates, the six-bedroom home measures about 8,300 square feet. It comes with a boat slip at the Journey’s End marina, according to the listing.
The French Normandy-style house was built in the 1980s but gut renovated in 2017. After buying it, Macpherson brought in designers to help personalize the space and highlight her art collection.
The roughly 1.7-acre property has a gym and a saltwater pool. Macpherson, 60, couldn’t immediately be reached for comment. The model, who has graced magazine covers including Elle and the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue, also launched a lingerie line and produced fashion television shows. Her autobiography “elle: Life, Lessons, and Learning to Trust Yourself” is scheduled for publication later this year. She has also had homes in New York City, London and Aspen.
Pablo Alfaro and Lourdes Alatriste of Douglas Elliman had the listing. Luxury single-family homes in Coral Gables sold for a median $9.8m in the second quarter, up 85.4 per cent from the same period in 2023, according to a Douglas Elliman report.
Since the pandemic, Coral Gables has become increasingly attractive to wealthy buyers for its schools and walkable downtown, said Jonathan Miller of Miller Samuel Real Estate Appraisers and Consultants. So far this year, there have been five home sales of at least $20m within about a mile of Macpherson’s house, according to Zillow.
