Windows 10: Workplace remote login users may have to delay upgrade

Do you remotely log into your workplace from home? If so, you may need to delay your Windows 10 upgrade.

Windows 10 Review: A Worthy Upgrade

Do you remotely log into your workplace from home? If so, you may need to delay upgrading to Windows 10 at your house.

Packages such as those provided by Citrix Systems which offer remote login, desktop virtualisation and software-as-a-service are at the cutting edge of workplace practice, letting people conveniently work from home or login to their business’s computer system at critical times.

However there is a chance that your workplace is not yet supporting these virtualisation packages being accessed from operating systems other than those already approved by your workplace IT department. And that includes Windows 10.

For example, there have been cases of Citrix being configured by workplaces not to allow logins made from home computers using earlier Windows 10 pre-release builds. It seems a case of workplace IT departments being cautious before sanctioning this so it is best to check with them.

In another development, Microsoft says it has resolved a problem reported by some gamers where installing Windows 10 display drivers overwrote Nvidia drivers. In some cases gamers said the new drivers led to their computer systems crashing.

“This issue has been addressed and customers with Windows Update will receive the update,” a Microsoft spokesman said.

In Windows 10, consumers no longer pick and choose which software updates they install; they get the lot.
