SAMSUNG has eliminated printing from a computer with its first Android-driven models to be available in Australia.

Instead, users go straight to the printer to access their documents and photos from their cloud storage accounts on the printer’s 10.1-inch touchscreen panel.

At the printer interface, they can log into their accounts on Google Drive, DropBox, Microsoft OneDrive, Box and Evernote, and print files from those accounts on the spot. They can also search and print from web browsers, emails, maps, and images using the printer interface.

Samsung Electronics Australia said it was bringing eight of these multi-function device (MFD) printer models to the Australian market. They are the first printers from Samsung to be equipped with the Android operating system, Samsung said in a statement.

Users can preview documents, and edit and annotate them from the printer interface.

“Our new printer line combines advanced printing technology innovation and performance with the user friendly Android operating system to provide businesses and IT administrators with Samsung’s smart office experience,” said Samsung Australia’s Todd Lynton.

The printer has a library where users can download apps from, called “Samsung Printing App Centre”. The new range will be sold through Samsung’s authorised partners across Australia.
