Lenovo unveils laptop with foldable display
First there were foldable phones, now Lenovo has announced a laptop with a foldable display.
First there were foldable phones, now Lenovo has announced a laptop with a foldable display. Will it rock your boat?
The China electronics firm obviously thinks it will. Instead of a laptop consisting of a screen connected to a keyboard by a hinge, you simply fold the screen in half. That reduces the footprint in its folded state.
“In the past, a 13.3-inch screen on a laptop demanded that the device stay at that same size footprint,” Lenovo says in a media statement. “Not so with this single OLED 2K display made in collaboration with LG Display that can fold in half and reduce its width by 50 per cent.”
It says this latest Lenovo ThinkPad can transition with users from day to night.
“Wake up, fold it into a book, and start the day scanning your social media feeds in bed,” Lenovo says, “Walk to your kitchen, unfold it, and stand it up for hands-free viewing of your top news sites. Hit your commute on the bus or train and morph it into a clamshell to catch up on emails.”
It says the new foldable ThinkPad combines laptop productivity with smartphone portability.
The foldable ThinkPad is due for release next year.
