Special Report: Resouro Strategic Metals has entered the global race for critical minerals supply chain security by joining the MagBras Initiative, a project dedicated to producing rare earth permanent magnets entirely within Brazil.

The MagBras Initiative is a network of leading Brazilian industrial training and innovation institutions led by SENAI MG, SENAI SC and the Rede de Institutos SENAI de Inovação.

The Initiative has been successfully accepted for comprehensive funding from agencies in Brazil’s mining friendly Minas Gerais state, which will support the full realisation of its aims.

The MagBras Group brings together major companies such as Stellantis, Iveco, Vale, Mosaic, Schulz and Weg, among others.

Importantly, Stellantis leads one of the groups as the main anchor directly connected with Resouro’s producer slot in the MagBras Initiative.

Stellantis is an American-French-Italian automotive conglomerate which manufactures global car brands such as Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Citroen, Dodge, DS Automobiles, Fiat, Jeep, Lancia, Maserati, Opel, Peugeot, RAM and Vauxhall.

The Initiative’s ultimate goal is to establish a fully integrated and sustainable rare earth products supply chain in Brazil and position the South American nation as a global force in critical minerals production, reducing reliance on leading producer China at a time of ongoing trade tensions.

As one of the key collaborators, Resouro Strategic Metals (ASX:RAU)  will contribute its expertise and “in-kind” support, including rare earth element product samples and strategic insights. Resouro has also pledged to contribute a total of US$35,000 in four tranches in May, July, September and November 2025.

As owner of the Tiros project, one of the world’s largest JORC combined rare earths and titanium deposits, the collaboration cements Resouro’s profile as an important emerging player in Brazil’s critical minerals sector.

The current MRE hosted within the Tiros Central Block is 1.7 billion tonnes, but that covers only 7% of the 497km2 project and ongoing drilling indicates robust potential for resource growth.

Eyes on road ahead

Philippe Martins, Resouro’s Brazilian Executive Director, said: “We are honoured to play a key role in the MagBras Initiative, a transformative project spearheaded by SENAI MG, SENAI SC, and the Rede de Institutos SENAI de Inovação.

“This paves the way for Resouro to participate in a sustainable and fully integrated rare earth supply chain that will solidify Brazil’s position as a global leader in critical minerals.

“Moreover, it lays the foundation for Resouro to emerge as a prominent supplier in Brazil and a global force in the rare earths supply chain.”

Pedal to critical minerals metal

Resouro’s MagBras announcement closely follows the return of high-grade intervals from close to surface, which further confirmed Tiros’s world-class potential.

That came after Resouro kicked off 2025 by appointing Progesys International as project engineering managers and releasing a full work program to transform Tiros into a low-cost critical minerals mine.

Late last year Resouro inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with key institutions, the Minas Gerais State Economic Development Department and the Integrated Economic Development Institute (Invest Minas). These will enable Resouro to collaborate with Invest Minas to accelerate the project’s permitting, construction and mining.
