Special Report: Drilling at Koonenberry Gold’s Enmore project in northeast NSW has extended the strike of the Sunnyside gold system to more than 230m.

Koonenberry has observed visible gold in seven out of the nine holes completed, with alteration, veining and sulphides considered indicative of gold noted in a further two holes to the southwest.

Geological observations and the results received to date indicate that Sunnyside has more than 230m of strike along the structural corridor parallel to the granite-sediment contact.

Koonenberry Gold (ASX:KNB) adds that mineralisation remains open both to the southwest and to the northeast along the Sunnyside Shear Zone.

“Our drilling at Enmore has continued at a rapid pace with nine holes and more than 3000m now completed,” managing director Dan Power said.

“Hole 7 intersected a narrow interval of visible gold, continuing our remarkable run. Holes 8 and 9, whilst not intersecting visible gold, did intersect alteration, veining and sulphides considered indicative of gold mineralisation.

“These geological observations indicate the system now has more than 230m strike extent along the Sunnyside shear zone, around 80m width away from the granite-sediment contact and to depths of 300m from surface.”

Enmore project

Enmore covers 302km2 of the New England Gold Belt, which hosts the 1.7Moz gold-antimony Hillgrove mine, the 8Moz Ravenswood gold mine, the 7.7Moz and 0.36Mt copper Mt Morgan mine and the 2.5Moz Cracow gold mine.

Despite this clear prospectivity, the New England Fold Belt remains underexplored, particularly on the NSW side.

Watch: Koonenberry spots more gold at Enmore

KNB’s Sunnyside prospect has seen a modest amount of near-surface historical exploration, with deeper drilling only conducted in recent years, which has discovered significant gold mineralisation over substantial widths.

Hole 3 in the current program returned a thick 102m intersection grading 1.1g/g gold from 184m, including 44m at 1.77g/t gold from 235m.

The company is currently awaiting assays from hole 4 in mid-May and results from holes 5 and 6, which all intersected visible gold, in late May and mid-June respectively.

Power adds that while the company awaits assay results from its inaugural drilling program, it will add a further 1000m of drilling to continue testing the potential extents of the system along the Sunnyside Shear Zone.

This is fully funded by the company’s cash position of $5.35m as of March 31, 2025, and will also serve to increase the company’s understanding of the controls on mineralisation.

Results from the drilling will be used to design follow-up diamond drilling to test the continuity of mineralisation at Sunnyside in multiple directions.

Likewise, results from the ongoing soil program will be used to plan drilling at other prospects within the district.
