Belararox marks technical success at Tambo South with thick copper hits

Belararox’s first pass drilling has returned encouraging copper results at the Tambo South target within its TMT project in Argentina.

Special Report: Drilling has confirmed wide copper mineralisation at the Tambo South target within Belararox’s highly prospective Toro-Malambo-Tambo project in Argentina’s San Juan Province.

The first pass drilling at Tambo South intersected multiple thick copper mineralised intervals with notable examples being:

  • 30m grading 0.13% copper, 0.04ppm gold and 69.1ppm molybdenum from 102m as well as 129m at 0.12% copper, 0.01ppm gold and 72.1ppm molybdenum from 898m (TMT-TSU-DDH-001); and
  • 48m at 0.11% copper, 0.04ppm gold and 14.2ppm molybdenum from 369m, 102m at 0.11% copper, 0.04ppm gold and 53.8ppm molybdenum from 629m, and 28m at 0.12% copper, 0.02ppm gold and 71.2ppm molybdenum from 823m (TMT-TSU-DDH-002).

While these intersections sit within wide and continuous zones of anomalous copper values and are undoubtedly encouraging, better intersections could be on their way with Belararox (ASX:BRX) saying that the grade and type of copper mineralisation indicates that the main target has not yet been fully tested.

“Intersecting copper mineralisation in the first two drill holes at Tambo South during our maiden drill season at the TMT project is a technical success and validates our targeting approach,” managing director Arvind Misra said.

“While the assay results confirm copper mineralisation, the system requires further testing after refining our geological models.

“The results to date provide a solid foundation, and we are excited to further evaluate the copper porphyry potential in the next field campaign.”

Drill results

Geological interpretation of the Tambo South drill core data indicates multiple intrusions with varying extents of copper mineralisation.

The company notes the presence of covellite and hypogene chalcocite is consistent with the interpreted exploration model of a high-sulphidation epithermal overprint to the upper levels of a copper porphyry system.

Notably, the preliminary interpretation of geological logs and drill hole data suggests the predicted copper porphyry target at Tambo South has not been fully tested by the first two diamond drill holes.

The 3D geochemical models, which were previously based only on surface geochemistry, will be updated with the down-hole drill data to create a more accurate assessment of the copper porphyry target location, for follow up drill testing in November 2025.

BRX also noted that drilling at the Malambo target did not return any significant results for copper, gold or molybdenum.

It will update the 3D model at Malambo to further assess the potential for copper porphyry mineralisation.

Additionally, assessment of other highly prospective targets such as Toro Central and Toro South is ongoing.

TMT is located down the road from BHP and Lundin’s Filo Del Sol copper deposit, revealed recently to be among the largest copper finds globally of the past 30 years in a hint the underexplored Vicuna border region of Argentina and Chile could host more tier-1 copper mines.
