High profile fit-out firm Cubic has been placed in liquidation
Well-known Sydney family business Cubic, that has fitted-out some of the highest profile projects in the country, has been placed in liquidation.
Cubic, a commercial fit-out company behind some of the highest profile projects in Sydney and Perth, has been placed in liquidation.
Simon Cathro of Cathro & Partners has been appointed liquidator of six companies including Cubic NSW Pty Ltd and Cubic Contracting NSW Pty Ltd.
Cubic, whose sole director is Robert Migliorino, dates back originally to the mid-1960s when the Migliorino family set up a workshop in Sydney making bespoke furniture.
Cubic itself was launched in 1995, according to the company’s website, becoming “a market leader in the commercial interiors fit-out market delivering bespoke and beautiful interiors for iconic buildings and landmarks’’.
“Three generations and seven decades later, Cubic is still a privately owned Migliorino family business, managed by a close-knit team.’’
The company opened an office in Perth in 2010, and celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2020.
Documents sourced from the corporate regulator show a resolution was passed on Monday by Mr Migliorino as the sole director of Cubic NSW Pty Ltd: “That the company be wound up in insolvency as a creditors’ voluntary liquidation under the Corporations Act’’.
Projects Cubic has been involved in include installing feature ceilings at Sydney’s Ritz Carlton Hotel, the integrated internal fit-out works for PwC’s executive levels in Barangaroo Tower 1, and the internal atrium at University of Sydney’s Charles Perkins Centre.
Cubic’s website says the company prides itself in delivering “the most complex and challenging interior builds, and offers a 360-degree design and project delivery solution’’.
“We are proud to be privately held, and take great pride in the spaces that we create and the way in which we deliver,’’ the company says.
“Using detailed skill and precision across the design and construction crafts, we are committed to exceeding client expectations.
“We challenge the traditional procurement model, and bring the best to the site ourselves. We take full responsibility and ownership of the risk.
“Give us the shell, and we’ll make it look and feel remarkable.’’
Mr Cathro has been contacted for more details about Cubic’s financial position.
Calls to Cubic’s Sydney office are currently going to straight to voicemail while the Perth office said it could not provide any contact details for Mr Migliorino.
