Wategos Beach, Byron Bay mansion sells in five days
One of Byron Bay’s most prestigious beachfront mansions has been sold by Morgan & Banks’ Geoff Morgan.
One of Byron Bay’s most prestigious beachfront mansions fronting the world famous Wategos Beach has sold within five days of hitting the market as interest in the northern NSW township has reached fever pitch.
Long-time Byron Bay holiday maker Geoff Morgan, co-founder of recruitment firm Morgan & Banks, and wife Ros, have sold their four-bedroom 35 Marine Parade, Wategos Beach house for up to $22m through Michael Coombs, founding agent of LJ Hooker Avnu.
Mr Coombs would not comment on the identity of the buyer nor the price last night.
The architecturally designed house hit the market last Friday with expectations of around $20m to $22m. Mr Coombs said he had interest prior from Sydney buyers and expats from Hong Kong. The eventual sale price is understood to have met the vendor’s expectations.
The property hit the market last Friday.
Features include a heated wet-edge pool along with resort-style entertaining spaces, fireplaces and a media room.
Mr Coombs says Byron is a property destination that is one of the most sought-after locations outside of key cities.
The Morgans sold Wategoes because they are not using it as much as they once did. They bought the 664 sqm site in 1994, paying $1.24m, public records reveal and have since developed an architecturally designed house.
LH Hooker Byron Bay agent Glenn Irwin assisted with the transaction.
