Boyd picks up Albert Park home
It’s been a busy year on the home front for AFL stars. Western Bulldogs champion Tom Boyd recently purchased his first home, a $1.6m property in Albert Park. He bought an 1890s cottage off-market, shortly before Bulldogs legend Luke Darcy harshly urged Boyd to take a pay cut, given the 21-year-old ranks as one of the AFL’s highest-paid players since his move back from Sydney.
Bulldogs chief operating officer Michael Quinn found a $2.28m buyer for his Fitzroy home, which was transformed by architect Andrew Maynard five years ago. Collingwood’s Brodie Grundy bought a new four-bedroom Alphington home for $1.37m. North Melbourne’s Jack Ziebell spent $1,275,000 on a four-bedroom Maribyrnong home.
Alex Rance, the Richmond defender, has yet to offload his Richmond flat, which has a $655,000 asking price. It cost $675,000 off the plan in 2009. Rance became an estate agent at Little Real Estate this year.
Retired St Kilda and Collingwood midfielder Luke Bell spent $2.2m on a quaint 1920s home in Brighton. It’s just along from where departing Melbourne Demons coach Paul Roos and wife, Tami spent $3.85m on an ultra-contemporary four-bedroom home bought from Allan Sinclair, the former Fitzroy player whose son, Callum plays for Sydney Swans.
Meanwhile young sports reporter Seb Costello, the son of the former treasurer Peter Costello, bought in Richmond for $1,115,000 with his longtime partner Bree taking two-fifths of the acquisition.
Ricciardos sell up in Perth
The Perth home F1 star Daniel Ricciardo grew up in has been sold by his parents for $1.68m. Joe and Grace Ricciardo have lived in the Duncraig home since paying $180,000 in 1989, just months before Daniel was born.
Located north of Perth, the property has five bedrooms, a pool and a half-size tennis court. There’s a seven-car garage, of course, but the marketing photos show no Red Bull cars.
Realmark Coastal agents Sean and Jenny Hughes secured the sale.
