Besieged apartment developer William O’Dwyer, who presided over the collapsed Ralan Group, which developed units in Sydney and the Gold Coast, may find his Bellevue Hill mansion on the chopping block. According to a report from Grant Thornton, voluntary administrators for Ralan, which recently collapsed owing around $564m, Mr O’Dwyer owns a number of properties in Bondi and North Bondi that are expected to be put on the market. He was also a keen buyer of bitcoin and during 2017 and 2018 he purchased about $1.7m of the cryptocurrency, according to Grant Thornton’s report.
Luxury living
The last penthouse in Greenland’s Omnia development in Victoria Street, Potts Point, has hit the market with a $12m asking price. The Noble Penthouse has already attracted prospective buyers, including Hong Kong expats and Lower North Shore couples. CBRE selling agent Ben Stewart says there is strong interest in high-end penthouses given recent sales in Barangaroo. The buyer of The Noble Penthouse will join internet currency trader Steve Duchen and wife Polly in the apartment tower. Duchen paid $14.25m for his penthouse.
Sunlight in the south
Bowral-based Riviera Kitchens and Joinery directors Grant and Melanie Reynolds are expecting about $2m for their Moss Vale Tuscan-style home deep in the NSW Southern Highlands. Named Villa Bramasole, after Francis Mayes’ popular Under the Tuscan Sun series, the Windsor Crescent estate features five bedrooms, two bathrooms and three car spaces. Bramasole, Italian for yearning for the sun, is framed by young Italian cypress trees, and true to its name, is filled with natural light. Recent additions include wrought-iron electric gates, a circular driveway, an acre of manicured gardens and a stately, Tuscan-style facade with unique, vaulted entryway. The Agency’s Ben Olofsen and Nathaniel Berry are marketing the 2007-built property. The Reynolds bought Villa Bramasole in 2014 for $755,000.
Pulling out
University of Sydney dental lecturer Robert Turnbull and wife Rebecca are selling their renovated Greenwich Federation with price expectations of $3m. The five-bedroom Wisdom Road house is on 836sq m of landscaped grounds in one of the suburb’s best streets. The three-level property includes a parents retreat, a garden courtyard and resort-style pool. The property will be auctioned on December 7 through Belle Property Lane Cove principal James Bennett. The Turnbull’s paid $1.96m in 2012.
