Target’s chief operating officer Andre Reich has paid $4.1 million for a family home in Kew. Set in 798sq m of lush gardens, the four-bedroom, 2009-built home spreads over two gallery-like levels. Marshall White agents Mark Sproule and Duane Wolowiec secured the sale. Reich’s career has included stints at Myer and Kmart before becoming Target’s COO in March. He sold his Templestowe home before auction recently, after seeking offers of $1.5m. It was a four-bedroom, double-brick home with pool.

Amagansett on the market

Melbourne architects Chris and Genevieve de Campo have listed Amagansett, their Long Island-inspired, Sorrento new-build. It comes with price hopes of $3.5m. They paid $790,000 for the 1066sq m vacant block in 2014 and set about building the five-bedroom home. Completed this year, the U-shaped home is accessed through an articulated cedar facade. It forms a separate guest suite and garaging, after which the central lawned courtyard, swimming pool and entertaining areas are revealed. The master bedroom, adjacent study, main lounge and dining space make up the living level. The lower level comprises a further three bedrooms, a second lounge and another two bathrooms. Chris said the family had enjoyed living in the eco-friendly beach house for the past few months but it was time to start another project on the Mornington Peninsula. The couple also have a project in Tasmania. Kay & Burton Portsea agent Liz Jensen has the listing.

Isle of Capri asking $4.25m

Melbourne developer Rodney Smorgon, one of the heirs of one of Australia’s richest families, is back again, asking $4.25m for his Isle of Capri waterfront. St Kilda-based Rodney and wife Ann bought the home in 2005. The deep basin frontage and pontoon were deciding factors for the couple who wanted somewhere to keep their 21m boat. The four-bedroom Bayden Goddard Design home on 1009sq m was now too small for Rodney and Ann who, with seven grandchildren, are looking to get something bigger. McGrath agent John Natoli has the listing of the fan-shaped property.

In poll position

The Inlet penthouse has been sold for $4.475m by former professional motorcycle rider Craig Trinder, who founded the Natural Group, and his wife, the artist Helena Horsley. The couple have lived in Main Beach’s tallest high-rise since 2004, upgrading four times to the penthouse in 2009, which they bought for $3.5m. Occupying levels 33 and 34, the contemporary Breaker Street penthouse has three bedrooms and five bathrooms. There’s 10 balconies including an entertainers’ sky lounge with refurbished pool terrace with fireplace and spa. Built by the Japanese developer Daiwa in the early 1990s, it sold through McGrath Surfers Paradise agent James Ledgerwood. Its gimmicky prior marketing saw it offered through Ray White with a 2004 Ferrari Spider and a 2016 Aprilia motorbike thrown in, but not this time.
