A boutique residential development in Sydney’s trendy Elizabeth Bay is about to start construction at the behest of Nick Couloumbis, a high-flying scion of a storied Sydney property development family.

The project, No.1 Onslow Place, comprises six full-floor, three-bedroom apartments starting from $8m and rising to $25m for the double-storey penthouse with private pool all overlooking Elizabeth Bay on the edge of Sydney’s CBD.

All apartments in the Art Deco heritage-style development feature double parking, significant four to five square metre storage space, a back of house scullery, and a large, wrap-around balcony with never to be built out views soaring over Arthur McElhone Reserve towards Rushcutters and Elizabeth Bay.

Each unit from level three and above enjoys a second spectacular easterly view across Sydney Harbour.

Mr Couloumbis, founder of development company Toohey Miller which developed around inner city Woolloomooloo, divulges he bought the Onslow Place site “incredibly well” and is keen to develop not only the luxury Elizabeth Bay project but other projects in Mosman and Woollahra, where he has also just picked up a strategic site.

At Elizabeth Bay the Tzannes-designed apartments include oversized Calcatta marble island benches, open-plan living spaces, a smart-home integration system, direct private access from the car park with a luxurious individual entry foyer, European oak chevron flooring, fully integrated Gaggenau appliances and wine fridge, a master bedroom with large walk-in robe featuring a marble display island and bespoke joinery.

Located next to Elizabeth Bay House, with Arthur McElhone Reserve across the road, and a short walk to Macleay Street, No.1 Onslow Place is an ideal location for those seeking a lifestyle of convenience but enjoy living in a quiet area close to the Sydney CBD.

Mr Couloumbis, who says the apartments will appeal to downsizers, hired Melbourne designer David Hicks for the interiors of the eight-level block saying he has completed a lot of high-end homes in Sydney, and is an expert on European flair.

Marketing agent Ben Stewart of Stewart Residential said the whole-floor apartments would definitely appeal to downsizers and people moving from the lower north shore.

“They are not just for eastern suburbs people, they are for people from Mosman, Longueville and for people who want to be closer to their family in the Eastern Suburbs,” Mr Stewart told The Weekend Australian.

All apartments have direct lift access and a private foyer. Mr Couloumbis added that the No.1 Onslow Place apartments would be great for people wanting an inner city bolthole.
