Reverie, a private oasis overlooking Logans Beach near Victoria’s Warrnambool, has been sold. The sale by Sergio Masini and wife Kerri came around the revised $1.8m asking price. The house curves in a gentle arc with a 34-metre glass facade fronting the ocean, offering views from almost every room. It was built by children’s author Paul Jennings and his then wife Claire overlooking a whale nursery. Last traded for $1.35m in 2010, the 4.8ha Hopkins Road holding comes with a private cave, rock pool and sandy beach. It was sold through Penny and Nick Adamson of Charles Stewart Warrnambool.

Top end sales in far north

The Port Douglas trophy home, The Edge, has been sold, according to whispers from the Whitsundays. It’s the long-listed Charles Wright-designed house floating off the side of Flagstaff Hill. It was marketed as a masterpiece in design and engineering achievement. The recent interest came after the asking price was amended to $5m through Barbara Wolveridge at Raine & Horne Port Douglas Mossman. Designed like a shell with cantilevered roof, the 555sq m, single-level house comes with two bedrooms and a wet edge pool. It was built for the late Sydney industrialist Peter Graham and wife Claire, who were captivated by the views over the Coral Sea and tropical rainforest mountains. The Edge won the far north Queensland Eddie Oribin Award for building of the year at last year’s AIA Architecture Awards. Fresh whispers also suggest Craig and Connie Kimberley, whose family founded the Just Jeans Group, are close to a sale of their Port Douglas mansion, Kalimna, which had been listed through veteran agent Tony McGrath.

Stoner revs up for move

MotoGP legend Casey Stoner and wife Adriana have listed their Sanctuary Cove waterfront home, Laguna. The 30-year-old crowd-pleasing daredevil, who retired as a two-time world champion in 2012, paid $4.25m for the house the year he left the sport. Listed by Re/Max Regency agent Martin Moolman, Laguna won the Best Individual Home 2009 from the Master Builders Housing & Construction awards. The five-bedroom house has three living areas, a home office and theatre. Two outdoor entertaining areas, one with a built-in barbecue, overlook the wet edge pool. Stoner and Adriana have a four-year-old daughter, Alessandra Maria, and are looking at a lifestyle change.

Luxury piece of old Melbourne

Grandview, the Prahran home of the Van Veenendaal family, has been sold. Nicole Gleeson at Kay & Burton South Yarra was seeking offers at $9m-plus when the marketing campaign turned into a three-way private boardroom auction battle for the Grandview Grove estate. The 1895 six-bedroom house last sold for $1.33m in 1995. Set on 1676sq m on one of Prahran’s more prestigious tree-lined streets, the estate features a heated swimming pool and a floodlit tennis court. The neighbours sold their renovated home recently for $12m-plus.
