Rabbitohs coach Wayne Bennett’s Brisbane home offload

South Sydney Rabbitohs coach Wayne Bennett and fiancee Dale Cage have sold their near-riverside Brisbane home

South Sydney Rabbitohs coach Wayne Bennett and fiancee Dale Cage have sold their near-riverside Brisbane home. It sold within 18 days of its listing through Ray White agents Tim Davis and Rochelle Ferguson for $2.12 million to a local family who will be downsizing. The Yeronga property had cost $1,975,000 in late 2016, when Bennett had just wrapped up his second season in his second stint at the Brisbane Broncos. Set on the high side of the dress circle Brisbane Corso, the home with three levels was built by local builders GrayHAUS shortly before its last sale. The couple have been renting in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.

Pynes leave the house

Normally elections cause a pause in listings given market nervousness, but it has triggered one noteworthy offering in Adelaide. Departing Defence Minister Christopher Pyne and wife Carolyn have listed their Wattle Park family home with $1m-$1.1m hopes through Klemich Real Estate. Two of the five bedrooms were added by the Pynes after their $800,000 purchase in 2010, around the time he began his seventh successive term in parliament.

The Pynes are off to the Adelaide Hills, where Carolyn has always wanted to live. They have got about an acre in the Hills. And they retain an investment property at Robe, the fishing port town on the Limestone Coast that was bought in early 2016. The couple met when they were working at Corrs, Chambers and Westgarth and engaged in 1993. He was still living at home in Burnside on gaining his preselection in 1992.

Fitzroy warehouse opportunity

The half-finished Fitzroy warehouse conversion belonging to the late Melbourne music identity Andy Portokallis and partner Priscilla Blake has been listed for sale. The couple paid $2.42m for the Rose Street building in 2011 before getting approval to construct two additional levels. The listing has $3.5m expectations through Jellis Craig Fitzroy agents Lee Muddle and Richard Rose. The approved plans were for a two-level penthouse consisting of four bedrooms, three bathrooms and a pool, as well as a two-bedroom apartment and office space. Portokallis was the co-publican of the well-known Tote in Collingwood. Their previous home, the nearby Pfieffer Engineering warehouse, has been converted into luxury apartments, known as District.

Landscape designer strikes gold

Longtime landscape designer Scott Wynd, who has won gold at the Chelsea Flower Show, has sold his Warrandyte North property for $1.41m. Wynd’s Stony Creek Road offering was listed with Jellis Craig Eltham agent Chris Chapman who had a $1.4m-$1.5m price guide. Wynd had the house built on its 2535sq m holding 12 years ago in a contemporary Australian style. The garden has private nooks and sitting areas. The family plans to build again locally. Wynd was part of the garden team that won gold at the world-famous flower show, in an Australian first in 2005.
