Retirees Brian and Eileen Peat are asking $14.88 million for their Gold Coast waterfront palace at Sovereign Islands.
Retirees Brian and Eileen Peat are asking $14.88 million for their Gold Coast waterfront palace at Sovereign Islands, more than double its 2010 price.
The Peats are downsizing from the property known as Grande Vista which has a 55m water frontage and views of the city and the Broadwater.
The family bought the mansion, billed as one of the Gold Coast’s most famous properties, at auction for $7m from receivers in 2010 at the height of the global financial crisis.
The 12-bathroom mansion originally belonged to fallen Gold Coast developer John Fish.
He bought it for $6.5m in 2003 and set about turning it into a Mediterranean-style mansion using wrought iron and marble. Prestige Property Agents principal Amir Mian is marketing the seven-bedroom property, now looking more like a contemporary resort, with a wine cellar, steamroom and 10-car garage.
The east-facing home in Sir Lancelot Close, covers most of its 2103sq m block and includes a large internal elevator.
There is also a guest room and maid’s quarters while the seven king-size bedrooms incorporate ensuite bathrooms and walk-in wardrobes.
Mr Mian, a specialist in Sovereign Islands, negotiated the $3.725m sale of 12 Knightsbridge Parade and the $3.5m sale of 63 The Sovereign Mile last August.
