Playwright and novelist wife are selling their investment apartment
Playwright and screenwriter Louis Nowra and novelist wife Mandy Sayer are selling their Woolloomooloo apartment.
Playwright and screenwriter Louis Nowra and his wife, novelist Mandy Sayer, are selling their Woolloomooloo investment apartment in inner Sydney with a price guide of $700,000. The recently styled Art Deco one-bedder fronting 226 William St last sold for $295,000 in 2002, according to CoreLogic. The north-facing, 55sq m unit in the 1920s Westminster Hall building will be auctioned on February 18 through Ray White agent Nuri Shik.
Grazing property on the block
After 155 years of ownership, Mark and Angie Berry of Emu Creek, Walcha, half way between Sydney and Brisbane, have put a $35m price tag on their 3026ha property, which includes a 1908 homestead set within a 2ha garden. Billed as a thriving breeding and fattening operation, the property has further development opportunities, including grazing. The property has strong water supply, including 24km frontage to several creeks. Emu Creek was purchased by George Robert Gill for £1 per acre in 1868 and was gradually transformed into a superfine wool-growing enterprise. LAWD senior director Col Medway is handling the expressions-of-interest campaign.
Bargain homestead in Tasmania
Designed by architect Michael Bernacki from Honed Architecture, a contemporary property fronting Atratus Rise, Swan Bay, overlooking Tasmania’s Tamar Valley and the River Tamar is 20 minutes from Launceston and has a tiny guide price by Sydney and Melbourne standards of $1.5m-$1.7m. Built in 2018, the five-bedroom house on 9148sq m includes fenced paddocks. The owners, Christian and Ashlea Clyne, from Inclyne Constructions, plan to build another property nearby. McGrath agents Josh Hart and Tiffany Henricks are handling the marketing campaign.
On a new mission of popularity
Mission Beach Real Estate owner Steve Wiltshire has just sold a rustic series of three one-bedroom beachfront cottages on one title fronting 36 Donkin Lane for $1.3m, right in the hamlet about two hours’ drive south of Cairns. Wiltshire reckons that, since Annie Cannon- Brookes – wife of Atlassian founder Mike Cannon-Brookes – purchased Dunk Island for $23.6m last year, sleepy Mission Beach is becoming more popular with buyers. The Donkin Lane property replete with swimming pool, rents out for $300 per cottage per night – $900 in total during the peak holiday season. “This year looks like being quite exciting for Mission Beach,” Wiltshire says.
