Pattersons behind $9.6m purchase
Stuart and Nicole Patterson of Pattersons Insurerbuild have emerged as the $9.6 million buyers of Thalatta in Sorrento.
Stuart and Nicole Patterson, founding partners of Pattersons Insurerbuild, Australia’s largest specialised insurance repairer, have emerged as the $9.6 million buyers of Thalatta in Sorrento. The 1950s weatherboard house had been a holiday home for the Langford family for more than seven decades. The family is descended from Clements Langford, a noted master builder and philanthropist. He was involved in the construction of the spires of St Paul’s Cathedral in London. Set on a 1410sq m clifftop parcel, the original family home comprises three bedrooms, a bunk room, open plan living and a veranda with sea views. Liz Jensen and Gerald Delany from Kay & Burton Portsea sold the property.
King Island spa listed for $2.5m
Porky Beach Retreat, a getaway off the coast of Tasmania, has been listed for sale with $2.5m hopes. It sits on the west coast of King Island, between Cape Otway and northwest Tasmania. It was bought 4½ years ago by Alexandra and Russell Quigley who moved from Queensland. They completely changed the home, which was a holiday house when they bought it. Now the four-bedroom home has an outdoor sauna handcrafted with red cedar by local artist Anthony Fanning. It’s also the only beach house on the island with a full commercial kitchen. Ruralco agent Garry Sutton has the listing in conjunction with Pride’s Charlie Clemons. Sutton says it’s the best coastal house on King Island and is likely to be bought by a mainland buyer.
Former Coles boss lists in Brighton
Recently departed Coles executive George Dymond is selling his luxury Brighton home. Dymond, who was merchandise director at Coles until this year, paid $3.99m for the Atkinson Pontifex-built entertainer in 2014. Set on 1115sq m, the home has five bedrooms and a study. In the grounds is a saltwater, solar-heated swimming pool and a self-contained summer house. Nick Johnstone Real Estate Brighton agents Kris Barker and Matt Cleverdon have $4.9m to $5.39m hopes at its July 27 auction.
Great expectations in Palm Cove
Jetstar executive David Probert and wife Haron have listed their Palm Cove home with record hopes. They’re asking $8m for the home near Cairns that they built a decade ago after paying $585,000 for the 500sq m Colonel Cummins Drive block in 2002. They spent two years playing with designs and commissioned architect Roger Mainwood from TPG Architects. Mainwood segmented the views by using cement support pillars in the living space. The designer spent five years flying from Sydney to Palm Cove for the project. Set high off the verge, the four-bedroom home is cantilevered on one side over a steep drop. It sits under a zinc-topped roof. Ray White Port Douglas agents Jason Monk and Mark Flinn are marketing the home. Probert was a pilot for a number of airlines before becoming Jetstar’s flight operations senior manager.
