Optus chief Kelly Bayer Rosmarin offloads Southern Highlands weekender for $3.95m
Kelly Bayer Rosmarin and her banker husband Rodney Rosmarin have sold their NSW Southern Highlands weekender.
Optus chief executive Kelly Bayer Rosmarin and her CBA banker husband Rodney Rosmarin have sold their NSW Southern Highlands weekender Rose Manor for $3.95m according to publicly available CoreLogic records.
Originally the country seat for Sir Mark Sheldon, the pair purchased the 1914-built estate in 2009 for $2.25m and have sold it to locals. The seven-bedroom and six-bathroom mansion was picked up by a local family through Drew Lindsay agent Samuel Lindsay and Sotheby’s Michael Pallier. Both agents declined to comment. The triple-brick residence includes a vast entry and four original fireplaces as well as a heated swimming pool and separate two-bedroom cottage. The estate was developed on 2762sq m. Parts of the Merrigang St property including its living rooms and bedrooms were recently updated. Locals said the executives sold out of Bowral as they were not using the weekender as much as they would have liked.
Opera House link to extension
Architect Peter Hall, who completed part of the Sydney Opera House design after Danish architect Jorn Utzon left Australia in 1966, designed the extension of this Riverview home, which is on the market for $2.5m. While the original part of the blond brick cottage was built in 1965, Hall built a brutalist-style extension for the Carlton family of eight using 25,000 clinker bricks and riser skylights. It was so modern, Home Beautiful magazine featured the extension. The Yallambee Rd property will be auctioned on August 20 through Tim Holgate and Simon Harrison.
‘Bargain’ on the waterfront
About $5m is expected for a Hamptons-style home spanning two beachfront blocks at Brighton, 19km north of the Brisbane CBD on the road to the Redcliffe Peninsula. Designed by owners Rod and Christiane Webster in conjunction with Sydney waterfront specialist architect Chris Austin, the property has a 20m frontage with views out to Bramble Bay. Listing agent Andrew Botwright says if you tried to buy this type of property – on the beachfront and within easy reach of the CBD – in Melbourne or Sydney, you would be paying at least 25 per cent above the list price. With more than 680sq m under roofline, the home, with five bedrooms and five bathrooms including a self-contained guest suite, is one of the largest on Flinders Pde. “A soundproof cinema, dedicated library in the master suite, mineral pool and ‘man cave’ in the five-car garage are just a few additions which make this home stand apart,” Botwright says.
Penthouse listing set for takeoff
Travel industry veteran Andrew Denman, who has held senior roles with Hawaiian Airlines, Virgin Blue, American Express, Northwest Airlines and Ayers Rock Resort Group, has a $9m listing price on his Bondi Rd, Bondi penthouse.
The auction through Ray White Double Bay agent James Ledgerwood is set for October 6, with the marketing campaign to start in earnest on August 29. Denman in 2019 paid $6.43m for the three-bedroom and three-bathroom penthouse, which has three car spaces and direct lift access. It has 250sq m of internal living space plus another 121sq m of terraces.
