Michelle Bridges’ highlands weekender hits the market
The celebrity fitness trainer is looking for bids over $7m for her country home as she plans a return to Sydney full time for business reasons.
Celebrity fitness trainer Michelle Bridges is looking to sell her 4ha Kangaloon property in the NSW Southern Highlands after purchasing the plush estate some five years ago, as she plans a full-time return to Sydney for business reasons.
Bridges paid $2.7m for the five bedroom estate replete with tennis court, reportedly outbidding chef Luke Mangan for the property which had a $2.4m price guide at the time.
She had planned to escape her busy life in Sydney’s eastern suburbs with her then two-year-old son back in 2018.
She has since split with her partner Steve Willis and has now listed the property, known as Summerside, with The Agency Southern Highland’s Ben Olofsen with a price guide of around $7m after making some minor renovations and holding it for five years.
Bridges’ property fronting Kangaloon Rd in one of the Southern Highlands best areas, is nestled in the lush green hills of Kangaloon and has an in-ground pool, full sized tennis court, a separate guest barn and artist studio. In keeping with the area, a barn style double garage incorporates a spacious loft bedroom and modern bathroom.
Outdoor terraces offer panoramic views of the surrounding countryside with landscaped gardens featuring established trees and purpose built vegetable gardens, designed by architect Michael Bligh.
In a statement to Mansion, Bridges said the five bedroom and three bathroom property was originally purchased as a lifestyle estate and weekender for the family.
“Michelle and her family loved the stunning views, privacy and tranquillity of the property which lead her to make it their permanent home for the past three years,” she said in a statement.
“During this period the property has been a sanctuary for the family, and they have enjoyed the pool, tennis court and the lifestyle that the Southern Highlands offers.
“However, Michelle’s growing business interests now require her to move back to Sydney.”
Despite most regions undergoing phenomenal real estate rises during Covid-19 as buyers escaped the cities, many have been hit hard by increasing interest rate rises according to CoreLogic data out this week.
The NSW Southern Highlands has seen one of the biggest sales volume falls in the country after the Tweed Richmond region with the number of house sales dropping 36 per cent in the 12 months to November. Vendors in the Southern Highlands region are discounting an average 6.5 per cent.
Other notable celebrities living in the Southern Highlands include popular hairdresser Joh Bailey, and businessman and property developer Theo Onisforou who resides in Kangaloon.
