Restaurateur Matt Moran has bought Newtown’s flagship Marlborough Hotel in Sydney’s inner west for about $33 million.

The pub is the fifth property sold by the Australian Pub Fund, chaired by former Qantas chief executive Geoff Dixon and investors including entrepreneur John Singleton and financier Mark Carnegie.

Ray White Asia Pacific director Andrew Jolliffe said the Marlborough Hotel attracted significant local and international interest during the six week marketing campaign.

To date the APF has sold five pubs including the Toxteth in Glebe for $22million with another five in NSW and Queensland on the market.

The Marlborough Hotel is the third asset for the newly formed Solotel Group which is controlled by Mr Moran and Bruce Solomon.
