Investment banker Trevor Rowe has joined the realms of several elite businessmen, including James Packer, buying into Crown Residences at One Barangaroo tower.

Mr Rowe, who in 2017 bought a suite on the luxury yacht The World, has acquired a three-bedroom apartment on the upper floors of the yet to complete 77 level tower fronting Sydney Harbour.

Apartments in the tower start at $9.5m for a two bedroom and two bathroom apartment, and Mr Rowe and his wife plan to relocate from the luxury Highpoint Tower in Sydney’s Millers Point where they have lived for the past four years.

Mr Rowe, now a senior adviser at Rothschild & Co Australia, after stepping down as its chairman five years ago, told The Australian that he was looking for a larger home. The purchase price is undisclosed.

“We looked at various available apartments in and around the city precinct. We sought a home equipped with a concierge, pleasant views and in a convenient location by restaurants and all the city has to offer.

“What stood out for us about Crown Residences at One Barangaroo was the iconic nature and structure of the building, coupled with its location, superior quality and the remarkable services and the amenities from the hotel below.”

Other residents will include James Packer, who paid $60m for a two-level apartment in the tower which is scheduled to complete later this year, with residents able to move in from March, 2021.

“Not only did the Residences stand out for exceptional quality, we also love the panoramic views and iconic form of the building. We were also attracted to the access we would get to the hotel’s services and amenities, like the world-class gym, spa and harbourside swimming pool,” Mr Rowe added.

Mr Rowe spent 40 years in investment banking as well as numerous non-executive board positions of public and private corporations.

“Given the superior quality throughout the building, we deemed it great value compared to other prestigious buildings already on the market, under construction, or in planning phase,” he said.

Still some availability

Crown Residences at One Barangaroo has a couple of two, three and four bedroom apartments still available, as well as a duplex penthouse according to the developer.

The developer foreshadowed the Duplex Penthouse is set to record one of Australia’s most momentous sales, boasting panoramic views of Sydney Harbour, 6.5 metre double height ceilings, a media room and a wine room.

Designed by award-winning architect WilkinsonEyre, Crown Sydney’s unique sculptural form twists as it rises in a petal-like formation. Each of the Residences are unique in size and layout, all complete with dual or triple aspect views of Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House.

Residents will have access to all services from the hotel at Crown Sydney, including having bed linen changed to hiring a private chef or wine sommelier.

Residents will also have access to all amenities at Crown Sydney, including the Balinese inspired resident’s pool, a luxury gym, the Crown Spa and high-end restaurants and bars below their homes. Crown Sydney will include 14 fine dining restaurants and bars.

Erin van Tuil, Partner, Crown Residences at One Barangaroo, said the majority of buyers are local from a range of backgrounds, from young families to budding entrepreneurs and retirees.

“We announced earlier this year that Crown Residences at One Barangaroo has achieved a record $650m in sales including an unprecedented 12 transactions over $20m to date. Despite the pandemic, we are experiencing a record number of inquiries and sales are performing phenomenally well.”
