Australian businessman Graeme Samuel is selling his Toorak holding. The now Brighton-based former consumer rights chief is seeking $8 million-$8.4m for the single-level home created by building designer Kim Andrews and John McNamara. Set in 855sq m of landscaped gardens by Jane Jones, the home has three bedrooms and two bathrooms under its slate roof. A pool sits in the grounds. Kay & Burton agents Ross Savas and Darren Lewenberg have the listing. Samuel paid $3.05m in 2007 before its full-scale renovation. It was owned in the 1970s by media executive David Evans, who sold his nearby home, Koonda, last month.
Tech head’s pad on offer again
Melbourne tech entrepreneur Taisen Maddern and wife Karen have relisted their feng shui-inspired Surfers Paradise home. The Phil Morton-designed home on Commodore Drive is seeking offers around $5.95m, down a tad on its 2015 price guide of $6.595m.
Astras and Burcul agent Boris Burcul has the listing this time around for the four-bedroom home. The feng shui elements include a tiled path leading from the entry over a fish pond to a pivot front door. Maddern, who invented hands-free bluetooth product BlueAnt Wireless in 2003, paid $5m in 2010.
South Yarra prices sinking
Prices are going backwards on South Yarra’s Fawkner Street, where a new home development site was passed in on a $2.5m vendor bid last Saturday, having traded for $2.6m in 2017. The 1980s three-bedroom home on 335sq m has approvals secured by the Lumiere Group’s Greg Adshead and Nathan Foley. It’s for a design by Megowan Architectural intended to sit in gardens landscaped by Jack Merlo.RT Edgar agent Mark Wridgway was signalling price expectations of $2.4m-$2.5m in pre-auction guidance, with a $2.65m reserve revealed post-auction. Wridgway’s lengthy onsite auction spiel mentioned everything except the overnight shooting murder in nearby Fawkner Park. The auction attracted Marshall White agent Marcus Chiminello, who has a nearby listing. It is the home of the Sitch family, who have it back for sale with a $4m-$4.4m guide, just eight months after they paid $4.571m for the home marketed as South Yarra’s finest single-level Victorian heritage home.
Alfie looks to offload unit
Rugby league legend Allan ‘Alfie’ Langer and wife Janine are selling their Sunshine Coast apartment. They paid a savvy $865,000 for the Caloundra apartment in 2016, given the unit sold for $1.26m when new in 2010. Now the Langers are seeking offers of more than $949,000 for the three-bedroom unit. The open-plan beachfront apartment has a beach-facing balcony with views across Bulcock Beach to Bribie Island. REMAX Caloundra agent Lachlan Anderson has the listing for Langer, who is on the coaching panel at the Brisbane Broncos along with the Australian national team.
