Family of Autobarn’s late co-founder Garry Dumbrell market historic Melbourne mansion

The family of the late Supercars team owner and Autobarn car parts chain co-founder Garry Dumbrell is set to pocket about $20m on the sale of their Hawthorn mansion.

The family of late Autobarn co-founder Garry Dumbrell is set to pocket about $20m for Ellerslie, a landmark 130-year-old-plus mansion in Melbourne’s Hawthorn. Ellerslie, fronting 16 Harcourt St, is set on 3340sq m and includes a swimming pool, tennis court and fountain. It was designed by architect John Beswicke and built in 1891. The six-bedroom house was sold by Marshall White director Marcus Chiminello. It last sold in 2017 for $16.5m.

 

$11m for waterfront penthouse

CBRE senior director Caroline Fagerlund has just sold a brand new waterfront penthouse in Sydney’s Drummoyne for more than $11m to a local couple. The three-bedroom and three-bathroom waterfront apartment fronting St Georges Crescent was sold by a British-based executive who purchased it off the plan. Meanwhile,

CBRE’s Ben Stewart is marketing Lusso, a boutique waterfront Drummoyne development of three full-floor apartments, one with a private pool, while the other two apartments have a shared waterfront pool.

Prices start from $12m for the three-bedroom, three-bathroom apartments, which include glass-encased wine rooms with leather slings as well as timber herringbone floors and Axor Philippe Starck steam showers. Construction on the apartments, which have views across Sydney Harbour, starts within the next few weeks.

Skye’s the limit for anaesthetist

St George Hospital anaesthetist Joanne Momsen has purchased a luxury apartment in the Skye by Pikos development in Brisbane’s Kangaroo Point. Buyers have spent nearly $46m purchasing apartments in the development, according to Gap Development sales director Grant Plummer. “Brisbane is the most insulated of all the major city property markets at the moment, given the infrastructure boom happening right now with billions being poured into the Games, Cross-River Rail project, Brisbane Live entertainment precinct and more,’’ he said. The recent sales comprise two penthouses for $12.5m and $10.5m, two sub-penthouses for $8.5m and $8m and a large four-bedroom apartment for $6.1m, all offering panoramic uninterrupted views of the city skyline and river. The project is now 65 per cent sold, and the average apartment price comes in at $3.7m. Total off-the-plan sales for Skye by Pikos were now $162m. Construction is expected to start on Monday.

Coco Republic continues US push

Anthony Spon-Smith’s up-market interiors store, Coco Republic, continues its American expansion with another US store opening this week. It takes over the former Crate & Barrel store near San Francisco’s Union Square. Apart from stores in Sydney’s Alexandria and Melbourne’s Richmond, Coco Republic has a large store in Los Angeles.

Flannerys’ Gold Coast offering

Members of Brisbane’s billionaire coal mining Flannery family are boosting the marketing campaign for their Miles penthouse atop their Kirra Point project on the southern Gold Coast, signalling that the 761sq m split level penthouse is on the market for $16.75m.

The Flannerys have also recently listed 40ha of land at Byron Bay with hopes of $160m-$180m for the site that can be subdivided into nine lots. The beachfront site adjoins their popular Elements of Byron resort. The Miles penthouse is due for completion late next year and comprises 761sq m.

High hopes on the oceanfront

Ivan and Belinda Harris are expecting about $5m for their 99 Sunset Strip, Manyana absolute oceanfront property on the NSW south coast. The four-bedroom, three-bathroom property on 626sq m fronts Dulcies Beach and has been completely renovated. The Agency’s Ben Olofsen is handling the marketing campaign of the property about three hours south of Sydney.
