Emerald city: Carmel Tebbutt watching the market, ‘not buying’
Carmel Tebbutt and husband Anthony Albanese insist they are staying put in their Marrickville house in Sydney.
Former NSW deputy premier Carmel Tebbutt and husband Anthony Albanese, federal Labor spokesman for transport and infrastructure, insist they are staying put in their Marrickville house in Sydney’s inner west. That’s despite Tebbutt being spotted at an auction last Saturday at Foorde Street, Hurlstone Park, about 8km from the CBD. “I was just watching the market like every other inner west resident,” Tebbutt says. The three-bedder with newly renovated entertainer’s kitchen overlooking a large leafy garden sold under the hammer at the frenzied auction for a whopping $1.715 million through Rich & Oliva. Since retiring from politics Tebbutt has taken on a private sector role as chief executive officer of the Medical Deans Association, representing professional entry level medical education, training and research.
