Asian-based French retail executive Georges Furone-Defforey has forked out $12.74m for a luxury apartment in James Packer’s Crown towers at Sydney’s Barangaroo, one of nine buyers who have spent nearly $120m acquiring opulent units the latest tranche of purchasers reveals.

Asian buyers figure heavily in the latest public documents.

They include the Ung family who have spent $13.1m on an apartment in the 82-unit tower, the Lee family spending $10.45m, the Gu and Lam families who have purchased for $11.6m and the Au-Yeung and Cheng’s who splashed out $12.5m.

But by far the highest purchase price in the latest tranche of buyers is the $20,565,118 spent by Xiujuan Ma and Guohua Yan – with a Westpac Bank mortgage – a purchase price which obliterates the $12.05m spent by a couple known as the Cao and Xu family who have also bought into the tower atop the Crown hotel.

Last week it was revealed entrepreneur Luke Hepworth, who heads a family dynasty supplying personal protective wear and hand sanitisers, had just paid $9.4m for an off-the-plan plan apartment in James Packer’s soaring Barangaroo complex.

Mr Hepworth has purchased a two bedroom, two bathroom apartment in the striking, 82-unit Sydney tower overlooking Sydney Harbour, according to publicly available information.

It comes as figures continue to emerge showing what cashed-up buyers are actually paying to snare a luxury apartment in the $2.2bn One Barangaroo Crown Residences tower.

Tony and Evelyn Lin have forked out $28.8m for a 500sq m plus apartment at Barangaroo, while Zening He and Mi Yi Li have spent $14.48m with a mortgage to NAB.
