Property funds house Charter Hall has secured Allianz Australia as a key tenant for a new tower in the Melbourne CBD that will also house Amazon.

The financial services company has precommitted to shift its Melbourne headquarters to 555 Collins St, part of a new $1.5bn twin-tower office precinct, from December on a 10-year lease.

The complex has a prominent spot on Collins and King streets, as well as direct access to Flinders Lane with 84,000sq m of premium-grade office space and ore than 2300sq m of retail across both towers.

Allianz will occupy levels 24 to 28 or about 6500sq m of office space with 1250sq m floors providing flexibility for it to tailor the fit-out to best suit its future workplace needs.

Charter Hall office chief executive Carmel Hourigan said Allianz would join Amazon, Aware Super and Connective at 555 Collins St.

The Collins St tower is in Melbourne’s burgeoning mid-town, on one of the city’s key intersections and surrounded by other premium-grade office towers such as Rialto, 530 and 567 Collins St.

“With the customer experience at its core, 555 Collins St is designed to create a workplace experience like no other – all within one of the most sustainable office buildings Melbourne has to offer,” Ms Hourigan said.

The complex is co-owned by the Charter Hall Prime Office Fund and the company’s long-term partner, Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund, GIC.

It is targeting 6 Star Green Star, 5.5 Star NABERS Energy and Platinum WELL certifications. The development is being built under a carbon-neutral framework and will be certified carbon neutral in operations.

“We’re excited to be moving into the skyrise floors of 555 Collins St late next year,” Allianz Australia managing director Richard Feledy said.

“The strong sustainability credentials of the building, along with the focus on collaborative, tech-powered work spaces, align perfectly with Allianz’s values and preferred ways of working.”

The complex is being built by Lendlease and was topped out last October. It is slated for completion in June.
