Outgoing Mirvac chief executive Susan Lloyd-Hurwitz, will be announced next week as the new president of the influential Chief Executive Women lobby group, replacing Sam Mostyn who completes her two-year term this month.

Ms Lloyd-Hurwitz, who will step down as CEO of the property group in June, takes on the CEW post at a crucial time for women, as the Labor government moves to increase support for parents in a bid to encourage more women into the workforce.

She takes over from Ms Mostyn, who is widely regarded as having been an outstanding leader of CEW over the past two years, lifting the group’s public profile and its influence in Canberra, particularly with the Albanese government.

Ms Mostyn has had a long corporate and community career, holding senior board roles at companies including Citigroup, Mirvac, Virgin Australia and Transurban. She was the first woman AFL commissioner.

She played a prominent role in the recent National Skills and Jobs Summit in Canberra and is chairing the powerful group, the Women’s Economic Equality Taskforce, set up by the federal government to look at equal pay and gender issues.

As CEW president, Ms Mostyn has been outspoken on issues including child care, parental leave and targets for women in senior roles in business.

Ms Lloyd-Hurwitz has an MBA from INSEAD business school in France and held senior corporate roles before taking on the top job at Mirvac in 2012.

Last month, Mirvac announced that Campbell Hanan, who is its head of its integrated investment portfolio will succeed Ms Lloyd-Hurwitz as its next CEO and managing director.

CEW has more than 900 members who hold top jobs in private and public organisations.

It was founded in 1985 to advocate for gender balance and equal opportunity for women. It is understood that it will take in another 100 members next week.
