Tanarra Capital principal John Wylie yesterday formally resigned from any involvement in the Santos defence team which is being led by Deutsche Bank.

Wylie, who is also chair of the Australian Sports Commission, wrote to Santos chair Peter Coates yesterday advising Tanarra was now at a size which demanded his attention.

Santos (STO) is in play after receiving an approach from US based Habour Energy which has seen its stock price increase by 15 per cent from $4.38 a share last week to $5.05 a share in late morning trade.

Tanarra has close to $600 million in funds under management and it is about to close a private credit fund with around $300m in funds.

Santos is running a beauty parade later this week to pick an independent adviser to support Deutsche and lawyer Herbert Smith Freehills.
