Left media’s ‘desperate desire’ to see Trump’s peace plan fail

The hostage release highlighted the nature of Israel, of Hamas, of Donald Trump, of Western journalists and of the West’s useful fools who have been marching against Israel in “peace protests” for two years.
Israelis are prepared to pay a high price to save Jewish lives. This is the bargain Israel has with its people: it means it when it says “Never Again” after six million Jews died in the Holocaust that Hamas and Iran still vow to repeat.
Hamas knew this when it murdered 1200 innocents and took 251 hostages. It’s clear from orders given by Hamas leaders and revealed last week: the group wanted as many murders and as much damage as possible on October 7.
The New York Times on October 11 quoted from military leader Yahya Sinwar’s six-page handwritten letter of August 24, 2022. Sinwar ordered Hamas militants to broadcast their crimes to create fear across Israel. All civilian homes were to be burned and civilians killed. Soldiers were to have their heads trampled.
Hamas, and most Islamist groups, love death. They are prepared to sacrifice any number of innocent Palestinian lives – martyrs in their lexicon – to make a political point about Israel.
That state’s mission to protect Jews explains Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s military pursuit of Israel’s Iran-sponsored proxy enemies. It explains why his brother, Yonatan, led the mission to rescue more than 100 Jewish hostages in the Ugandan town of Entebbe in 1976. Yonatan, 30, was killed but the mission succeeded.
It’s why Netanyahu in 2011 released 1027 prisoners, including the eventual Hamas mastermind of October 7, Sinwar, in exchange for a single Israeli soldier, Gilad Shalit, captured by Hamas as a 20-year-old in 2006.
Israel’s celebration of the return of its hostages and its immediate ceasefire give the lie to the anti-Semitic genocide charges the UN has levelled against it, turbocharging Jew hatred globally. No surprise given more than 50 Muslim nations are UN member states and Israel is the lone Jewish member.
Why would Jews everywhere be celebrating if Israel’s actual intention in Gaza was Palestinian genocide rather than release of hostages? It will take at least three years for the International Court of Justice to rule in Israel’s favour.
But Israel will win given the text and leaflet warnings sent out by the IDF before its bombing raids, the long lead times Israel gave to civilian communities to evacuate targeted areas and the clear legal right of Israel, invaded in a time of peace, to respond and to retrieve its hostages.
Hamas quickly used the peace last week to come out of hiding in tunnels and begin murdering its local Palestinian critics, including in public executions. While the Nine newspapers led their websites for a few hours with the Hamas executions, footage of which Hamas released, it was noticeable how quiet the usual pro-Palestinian crowd on social media were.
Imagine the reaction if video had emerged of Israeli soldiers shooting seven kneeling Palestinians in the back of the head.
It was also interesting to see news organisations that ignored Hamas murders of protesting Gazan civilians in March suddenly interested in Hamas barbarism against Palestinians: because they could use it to say Trump’s peace plan was unravelling.
There was little comment from our federal government about the executions even though the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank condemned the killings of more than 30 people. Remember, Anthony Albanese has claimed Hamas will have no role in the Palestinian state he has recognised. How will Albanese make that happen?
Hamas and much of the media continue to pretend Gazans are starving even though footage for over a week of Palestinians returning to Gaza City gives the lie to that claim, repeated daily by ABC correspondents who prefer the words of the Hamas-controlled Ministry of Health and clearly anti-Semitic NGOs to the evidence of their own eyes.
Qatar – long-time Hamas funder, home to Hamas’s billionaire political leadership and sponsor of the racist Al Jazeera television network – will likely walk away from Hamas after Netanyahu’s September 9 strike on Hamas leaders in Doha.
Anti-Israel journalists who celebrated Trump’s criticism of Netanyahu over the attack missed how crucial it was in turning the tide for peace.
The truth is that before October 7, Gaza had been largely free of Israeli aggression since Israel unilaterally left in 2005 – apart from occasional reprisals for regular Hamas rocket attacks on southern Israeli towns.
Even if it fails, the peace plan revealed much about Trump. For all his vanity, personal vendettas and hyperbole, he knows how to use power.
Trump got a deal because he used American military might against Iran’s nuclear facilities and because he stood by Israel through its systematic demolition of Iran, Hezbollah, the Houthis and Hamas.
Trump understood what many Western political leaders and journalists refused to see. Hamas wanted innocent Palestinians to die. Why else hide its most important command centres under hospitals and schools? It used social media and Al-Jazeera to pump up anti-Israel sentiment knowing it was itself risking Palestinian lives.
What of the global pro-Palestine protest movement? Despite the presence at marches here of well meaning people who want an end to Palestinian death and suffering, these protests have been organised by Islamist groups such as Hizb ut-Tahrir and old-fashioned Marxists who see Israel as a little America.
Yet only the truly ignorant or one-eyed Jew haters could imagine today’s Palestinians are the original inhabitants of a land the Jews have called home for more than 3000 years.
The British Peel Commission report in 1937 acknowledged many inhabitants of British Mandate Palestine were Jews and proposed a partition that was opposed by Arabs.
Most people identifying today as Palestinian by race only began doing so when Yasser Arafat appropriated the word for his Moscow-aligned Palestine Liberation Organisation. Before that they were called Arabs.
Muslims conquered the region between 634 and 641AD after the fall of the Eastern Roman Empire. The Ottoman Turks controlled the area between 1516 and 1917, apart from a brief Egyptian conquest between 1831 and 1840. The Jews were there in 2000BC.
Sure, 140,000 surviving Jews settled from Europe after the Holocaust. But more than half the Jews in modern Israel have descended from Middle Eastern Jews, whether from Palestine or those expelled from much of the Arab world after the 1948 UN proclamation of the Jewish State.
The Peel Commission noted much of the Arab influx in the late 19th century was driven by Jewish Zionist investment.
For journalism in the West, the war has been a disaster. Journalists have swallowed Hamas narratives on casualties.
Like dupes, these reporters gave weight to Greta Thunberg’s ludicrous second flotilla to Gaza. Thunberg’s antics typify the left’s anti-Israel narcissism.
Now left media reporting is coloured by a desperate desire to see Trump fail.
The release last week of 20 live Israeli hostages taken on October 7, 2023, and 100 times that number of Palestinians held in Israel revealed many truths about the Gaza war.
