LSKD opens is first international HQ and storefront at Pacific Beach in San Diego
A growing activewear company with its roots in Logan has opened its first international store in the US and more than 500 fans lined up to get inside.
Growing activewear chain LSKD has opened its US base with a live DJ, athletes, exclusive product, and their traditional store opening tights and shorts swap.
LSKD founder and chief executive Jason Daniel says Pacific Beach in San Diego was the perfect for its US base with more than 500 people lining up outside the storefront, ensuring the company recorded its biggest day of sales in the US.
“The opening was such a special moment for the team as we have been working so hard to create a community globally,” he says.
“After learning over the years with brand partners we have formed relationships with, we felt Pacific Beach would be the perfect place for our home here in the US. It was incredible to meet some of our US community in person and celebrate this milestone with them.”
The 240sq m space includes a storefront hosting core styles and latest collections, an office space for the LSKD’s US team, and a community room that includes compression boots, massage guns, ice baths, and recovery meals and drinks for people to hangout, relax, and recover whenever they need.
LSKD was formed in 2007 and its headquarters are in Loganholme with outlets in the Chermside Shopping Centre in Brisbane, Chadstone in Melbourne and Miranda in Sydney’s south. A store at Bondi will open soon.
The company, which started as a wholesaler before transitioning to e-commerce in 2019, achieved $50m in global turnover in 2021-22 and in November flagged it was aiming for a 50 per cent increase this financial year.
Change agent
Author Jacine Greenwood, founder and CEO of award-winning beauty brand Roccoco Botanicals, has won the inaugural Women Changing the World Awards in London.
She beat global contenders to win the Women in Business category which recognises women who are leading the way in making the world a better place.
Greenwood describes the award as a thrill.
“My whole life’s work is about helping women to feel better in their skins and live fulfilled lives so to be acknowledged at this global level is truly humbling,” she says.
“My daily creed is: Just Go For it! I have learned to track my thoughts and eliminate all the stories and mindsets that are holding me back.”
Greenwood has grown Roccoco Botanicals from her kitchen table to a Yatala based multimillion-dollar business in three countries, with another two countries on schedule in 2023.
She achieved all this as a single mother while undergoing five spinal surgeries with fusion.
Pub for sale
Property giant Charter Hall has listed its freehold interest in Club Hotel, Waterford for sale amid robust demand for long-leased South East Queensland pubs.
The ASX-listed company paid $22m for the freehold property in 2018 and there are expectations that five years later investors will be willing to pay a lot more.
CBRE’s Paul Fraser, Joe Tynan and Michael Hedger are steering the campaign for the property, which includes a large format tavern with a main bar, sports bar, dining area and a designated gaming room with 45 gaming machines.
On a 1.1ha corner site the tavern is operated by the KKR-owned Australian Venue Co and also features a large First Choice Liquor Market operated by Coles Liquor.
Fraser says they are seeing record levels of inquiry from investors nationally looking to gain a foothold in Brisbane’s hospitality industry.
