The Cancer Council is on the hunt for a new CEO in this month’s SA executive role wrap up

The Cancer Council SA is on the hunt for a new chief executive for the high profile not for profit.

Where your job pays the most in Australia

A quick look at the top shelf jobs on offer in South Australia at the moment will certainly convince you that you should have studied computer science at university.

Full stack developers are in great demand, and demanding healthy pay packets.

There are also plenty of high level executive roles on offer, with the most prominent the job leading the state’s leading anti-cancer organisation.

Chief Executive - Cancer Council SA

The Cancer Council has a multitude of roles, ranging from fundraising and research, to cancer prevention and supporting people and the families and carers of those afflicted with the disease. The organisation describes itself as having an “ambitious” board and is looking for a CEO who can develop and drive the strategic plan.

“To be considered as the next CE for Cancer Council SA, you are an entrepreneurial, innovative and future focused executive leader who has experience leading complex organisations and who has a passion and alignment to Cancer Council SA’s four strategic objectives,’’ the organisation says.

Chief Financial Officer - Detmold Group

Detmold might now be best-known as the company which swung into action and started making surgical masks when there was a national shortage last year. The SA firm’s usual businesses is packaging however, which it designs and supplies for some of the biggest brands on the planet.

“Created in SA and still led by a head office located in Adelaide, the privately owned Detmold Group is a genuine success story and a truly global business. With customers on every continent, production facilities in seven countries and workforce of around 3000, it is a significant employer,’’ the company says.

Applications are encouraged from appropriately qualified and proven finance professionals with demonstrated experience in a business of comparable scale and complexity. Preferably with experience across international jurisdictions, the successful candidate will be commercially, technologically, and legally astute, with a perceptive yet analytical mindset.’’

Director of Advancement - Adelaide University

The role title doesn’t really give it away, but the director of advancement is in fact “the University’s lead fundraiser’’, tasked with “bring(ing) the Advancement strategy to life, working across the institution to establish a strong, supportive culture for all aspects of the Advancement program’’.

With universities under pressure due to a lack of international students, arguably this role is more important than ever.

Executive General Manager - Future Business - Nova Group

“Reporting to the managing director Nova Systems ANZ, you will build the future strategic sales pipeline for the ANZ business across its defence and industry, government and essential services customers.

Director SA/NT - Global Investment Services - Private Wealth - Westpac

After losing its previous director in this role to new entrant Crestone, Westpac is looking for someone to cater to and grow its high net-worth client book.

Chief Operating Officer - Better Medical

The private equity-backed Better medical is on the hunt for a COO with at least eight years’ experience in a similar role. The organisation says it’s the third-largest operator of GP clinics in Australia and has grown steadily year on year with 85 clinics across South Australia, Queensland, Tasmania, and Victoria.

Chief Executive Officer - Adelaide Primary Health Network

Also in the health sphere, APHN is a not for profit “tasked with increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of health services for people, particularly those at risk of poor health outcomes’’.

“APHN collaborates with and commissions a range of providers to improve co-ordination of care and ensure people receive the right care at the right time. The importance of health systems working together to meet the needs of people is more important than ever.’’

While a health background would be a “distinct advantage’’, it is not essential.
