Elizabeth Bryan to exit Westpac boardroom
Elizabeth Bryan, one of Australia’s busiest directors, is set to leave the bank after ten years.
Elizabeth Bryan, one of Australia’s busiest directors, has detailed her intention to stand down from the board of Westpac in December.
Ms Bryan will retire at the bank’s annual general meeting on December 9 after 10 years in the Westpac boardroom.
A replacement has not been named by the bank.
Ms Bryan remains chair of airline Virgin Australia and insurer IAG, making her among the most sought-after directors in the land.
She has also previously served as chair of Caltex Australia and UniSuper.
“Elizabeth’s deep experience in the governance of Australian companies has made a significant contribution to the success of the Westpac,” chairman Lindsay Maxsted said.
“On behalf of the board, I thank Elizabeth and commend her for her professionalism and commitment throughout her tenure.”
Upon departure, Ms Bryan will also vacate the positions of chair of the Westpac board risk and compliance committee, and as a member of the board nominations and remuneration committees.
