Millions of dollars worth of luxury vehicles are spearheading a revolutionary change in the way Australians shop for new cars.

Indooroopilly Shopping Centre in Brisbane’s western corridor, opened Automall West precinct on Tuesday in a development that has been backed by car retailing giant Eagers Automotive.

Announced more than a year ago the 2400sq m Automall over two levels will house eight car brands, acting as a one-stop destination for vehicle car shopping, servicing, and maintenance.

Brands such as Porsche, Jaguar, Land Rover, Ford, Volkswagen, Subaru and Honda will be on

display and allow for test drives from the carpark.

Indooroopilly Shopping Centre manager Steven Ihm said it was a “whole new way to shop”.

“Now you can shop for a new SUV, as well as an outfit for the weekend,” he said,

“We’ve taken eight top car brands and integrated them into the shopping centre experience

as another way to elevate our shopping offer and disrupt the industry.

“Automall West is for the entire family featuring a children’s playground and cafe.”

Designed by Sydney-based Public Design Group a section of Myer was ceded and up to 30 speciality stores relocated or closed to make way for AutoMall West.

Eagers Automotive will also have a state-of-the-art presence in the city’s east with its AutoMall Brisbane which is on track to open in 2024 at the airport.

Meanwhile co-owner Commonwealth Super Corporation has put up its $600m plus 50 per cent share of Indooroopilly Shopping Centre on the market.

The sale of CSC’s stake arrives as the campaign to a 25 per cent stake of the shopping centre on behalf of a Dexus-run fund comes to an end.

AMP Capital’s shopping centre fund holds the remaining 25 per cent stake in the centre.
