The Royal Bank of Canada has hired Mark Wilson as its head of equity research of Australia and New Zealand.

Mr Wilson previously worked as the head of equity research at Deutsche Bank.

He worked at the German bank for 14 years until 2019, when he took on a job as general manager for business development and investor relations at The Star Entertainment Group.

Before his time at Deutsche, he worked at JPMorgan.

Mr Wilson started in the job at RBC this week.

It comes as RBC has been growing its headcount in Australia and has hired executives in its equities team in recent month.

He has specialised in industrial listed companies in sectors such as gaming, agriculture, paper and packaging and chemicals.
