Partners Group is understood to have hired investment bank Macquarie Capital for a sale of its renewable energy company CWP, estimated to be worth up to $3bn.

CWP Renewables is one of the largest renewable energy power producers in Australia.

It has been created by way of a merger between Grassroots Renewable Energy established by Partners Group and CWP Renewables in 2020.

Market experts believe that the business could be worth somewhere between $2bn and $3bn.

CWP Renewables generates about 2000 mega watts of power through its Sapphire, Bango and Crudine Ridge Wind Farm assets in NSW, along with its solar and battery projects.

Australia-based CWP is a leading renewable energy developer, having already developed over 761 megawatts of generation, valued at more than $1.7bn.

The company is ramping up ahead of the closure of the Liddell power station and other coal-fired generators.
