A new name has emerged among the contenders for the chief executive role at Medibank — former Healthscope managing director Gordon Ballantyne.
Mr Ballantyne ran Healthscope from 2017 to 2019, when Paula Dwyer was chair, and he was previously a Telstra group executive. He is believed to be among the executives being sounded out for the top job at the health insurer.
Medibank announced in February that Craig Drummond would be retiring as chief executive, but would remain at the company until June and assist chairman Mike Wilkins in the search for his successor.
Russell Reynolds Associates has been hired as Medibank’s search firm. Other prospects include internal candidates such as Mark Rogers, David Koczkar and Andrew Wilson.
