Macquarie Capital’s co-head John Pickhaver is relocating to New York to lead infrastructure and energy capital for the Americas region.

It leaves Tim Joyce to be based in Australia to concentrate on the Asia Pacific region.

Tom Butcher will be head of infrastructure for the Asia Pacific region.

John Pickhaver has a doctorate in civil engineering from Oxford University and has been co-head of Macquarie Capital, Australia and New Zealand since 2016.

He has worked at the investment bank since 2005.

Mr Joyce and Mr Pickhaver replaced Robin Bishop when he stepped down as head of Macquarie Capital to set up private equity firm BGH Capital with Ben Gray and Simon Harle.

Jo Spillane will remain global head of private capital markets based in Sydney and is a crucial part of Macquarie’s infrastructure coverage, with key relationships with global infrastructure investors.

Macquarie has a commanding presence in the infrastructure and renwable energy space, topping the global advisory league tables for the industries in recent years, with key deals including Sydney Airport, acquistions for Transurban on WestConnex and is advising on the sale of CWP Renewables.
