Goldman Sachs has hired James Cornell from Royal Bank of Canada to become its head of equity sales for Australia and New Zealand.
Mr Cornell will lead the local Goldman Sachs team after he previously led institutional equity sales in Australia for RBC.
Before that time, he worked in equity sales at JPMorgan and Deutsche Bank, but he started his career at Goldman Sachs in Sydney.
His focus will be on key clients and offshore accounts, hedge funds, superannuation clients, institutional investors and asset managers.
Mr Cornell will work closely with the Goldman Sachs corporate access and research teams.
Also joining Goldman Sachs will be David Welsh from UniSuper.
Mr Welsh will be working with Joe Mahony in Melbourne and will be part of the equity sales team, as the bank expands its coverage in the Victoria capital.
Mr Welsh has worked since 2022 as a global equities investment analyst for UniSuper.
It comes after Goldman Sachs last year hired Credit Suisse banker Mark Davis as its head of Australia and New Zealand Equities following the departure of Mario Argyrides.
The bank is also to hire a head of equity capital markets for Australia and New Zealand after Aaron Lamshed departed in December and later joined Morgans.
Also, Philippe Perzi left as the head of the Financial Institutions Group for Australia and New Zealand at Goldman Sachs this year to join Citi.
Goldman Sachs is yet to announce his replacement.
