Matthew Salmon will head to UBS next month in a newly created role looking at the resources sector – just in time for a bull run on several commodities.

Mr Salmon, currently a vice-president equity sales at RBC Capital Markets, will start in his new role reporting to executive directors Owen Johnston and Rob Taubman on May 10.

Prior to his role at RBC, Mr Salmon spent almost two years in investor relations at Ampol, following stints as a portfolio manager at both IFM Investors and AMP Capital. UBS said he would be taking up the role of resources sales specialist and would be a director in the cash advisory division.

“Matt has over 10 years’ buy-side experience at AMP/IFM across the sector as well as two years of commercial experience at Ampol,’’ UBS said.

“Matt joins UBS from RBC where he has recently been the resources and global infrastructure sales specialist.”

UBS praised Mr Salmon’s “deep knowledge and experience across bulk materials, industrial metals, precious metals and energy”.
